Thanks, Jasper. I also keep some cash on the side. I see it as buying insurance. If the market goes up, I missed out on the growth but the rest of my portfolio did well. If the market dips, then I can always pour more money at discounted prices.

However, following a dollar-cost averaging approach which invests monthly is the way to buy both in good and in bad times (as we humans are terrible at predicting the future!).

Receive less in dividends, but I think buying more shares at bargain prices in the future will do very well!
